Wendy is a great professor she brings a fun energy that is missing from many of my classes. She engages in material and makes it relevant to me. It seems to me that she really cares about her students and prides herself in her work. I think she has the perfect balance of work and play. All in all great professor!

You’re lectures were well organized and the little stretch breaks really helped me recapture my attention (thanks, ADHD). Professor St.John is one of my favorite professors so far. This is the 2nd semester I have had her as my professor. She is so understanding inside and out of class and is always encouraging students to come to her office hours. She connects with her students not only through the curriculum but also personally. She is so interesting to listen to and her passion for teaching and protecting the environment is contagious. I have found no weak aspects in her teaching nor in the course.

Not only is she always prepared for class, she provides ample opportunities for students to ask questions, explore new ideas, and will take the time to explain ideas that are hard to understand. Wendy is too much fun. Sometimes these issues can be heavy and really require a lot of critical thinking. Wendy is great with showing multiple sides of the story and making you feel like this is something we can make an impact on. She also makes herself very available for help with anything. There is never a dull moment with Wendy. She makes the course interesting and challenging at the same time. Wendy, I LOVE that you took us outside a couple of times this semester, for discussion and to find koi fish in the man-made ponds on campus. I love how willing she is to help and how understanding she is about student’s personal lives, i.e. she recognizes that we are human! I will miss this class, it made me love biology! This was a great course. The instructor articulately and enthusiastically presented every lecture using very helpful and well organized PowerPoint presentations. You could tell how much she cared about the subject and the students, and she made every effort to help us understand difficult concepts and to stimulate interest. She made it very clear that she was willing and able to help if anyone ever needed it and was very effective in this area. The homework and tests were fair, and an excellent effort was made to help students prepare and succeed. Keep up the good teaching!
Wendy is a truly inspirational teacher that shows great passion for, and knowledge of, everything she teaches. I appreciate that Wendy has high (but 100% fair) standards for class behavior and work quality, and will gladly take other courses that she teaches. Wendy is very approachable and quickly responds to questions and/or emails … traits important for a good professor. I feel as if I have learned A LOT from Wendy about Conservation Biology, and I absolutely adore her as a person as well!

I feel that Field Bio really provided me with a lot of background on various scientific fields that I could enter, and the experience we gained is awesome. Wendy is the best professor I have had at this university. She never fails to help students with any issues they may face throughout the semester. I have not seen another professor that goes out of their way to help and guide students through absolutely anything in classes and in life. I have had many meetings with Wendy and she always makes it so that I feel heard and that I have the ability to voice my opinion. I feel that she is totally respectful of us and that she is doing everything in her power to guide students.
WONDERFUL teacher. I have had this professor since my freshman year of college and I am currently a junior. She always strives to have her students do the absolute best. Very patient and is willing to dedicate all of her time to ensure that you understand the material. Definitely helped me pass and understand the course better.

Great professor. Everything was always explained very clearly so it was very understandable. I felt like I always knew what I was doing and felt confident in my answers. Wendy is one of my favorite teachers I’ve had at SSU. Always having a good time and engaging with her students. She is very knowledgable in the subjects she teaches but also loves learning things from her students. And sings.
Wendy is enthusiastic and endearing, and really inspires a life of conservation in her course. She is not afraid to be critical of conservation practices, and invites students to pursue a critical viewpoint further. She explains course topics clearly and effectively. Although she goes out of her way to help students, she is not afraid to take control of the classroom if need be.

People were always able to interject their thoughts about what was being said and would be greeted with a well thought out answer. I came into this class not confident that I would do well on the tests and I have an average of 98% on tests because of her.
Ms. St John is probably one of the best professors here. She was very thorough and clear with all her assignments. Her slides were engaging and class was never boring. She gave us study guides and helped us prepare for exams way before they happened. Always made herself available to students whenever she was free. Thank you for being a great teacher.

Professor St. John is by far one of the most approachable and knowledgeable teachers I have had in my school career. She is always excited to talk about all things environment and her lectures are very easy to follow and successfully take notes on, whether you use the power point provided, or taking own notes. She constantly promotes things that we can do as citizens that will help aspects of our environment and the world we live in. She never influences her teachings on her own opinions and respects what everyone has to say. I believe that my favorite teaching aspect about her is her enthusiasm and respect for other’s views.
I loved professor St. John, she has such a great energy and enthusiasm every class. She lies out our subject matter each week and reinforces it with fun and engaging activities in class and for homework. She made me want to go to class and want to get more involved with the environment which is great quality to have as an educator, and she’s just a really nice lady too.

I am literally obsessed with this professor!! I have never before had a professor that genuinely wants every single one of her students to succeed. She creates such a fun and easy-going classroom environment and does an incredible job of making everyone feel comfortable in asking questions without feeling stupid. She is willing to admit her mistakes but has so much knowledge of all topics she goes over and when a question arises even if she doesn’t have an immediate answer she will work to figure it out. She gives enough assignments that if you do poorly on one or on tests its not the end of the world and the test corrections aren’t just nice for that extra grade boost but it gives you the opportunity to actually learn from your mistakes. This is genuinely the first time in a GE course that I have felt like I have learned information that I will retain. We NEED more teachers like Wendy St. John!! Wendy St. John for president!!
Wendy is one of, if not the best teacher I have had at this school. What makes Wendy stand out is not just her enthusiasm for the material, but that she works with us to make sure we all understand the material. She by no means is an ‘easy’ teacher, or overbearing, but one that truly wants to share her knowledge and get her students involved as much as possible.
Wendy St. John is the ideal professor! She is intelligent, well informed, humorous, communicates effectively, and has exemplary time management skills. Additionally, the course is a well structured course, we are learning about conservation topics in an order that makes sense and enables students to think critically about important issues.

I had Ms. St. John as my professor for Bio 115 and she was amazing. Everyday she came to class with a smile on her face and she was always excited to be there making it a enjoyable class to be in. As a freshman, it was refreshing I felt welcomed, and it felt safe. She not only prepared us for exams she gave us homework that pertained to our exams making it easy for me to learn. Over all she’s great and would take a class with her again and recommend her class to everyone.
Professor St. John made my first college science course not intimidating at all! She managed to make an 8 am enjoyable and broke down all of the information so clearly that I was able to succeed in this class. I thoroughly recommend her to anyone who is looking to take Biology 115.
Ms. St. John is an ecologist and evolutionary biologist by training, and she is very passionate about teaching biology. Her teaching strengths include strong rapport with students at all levels, and the ability to communicate course material clearly and convincingly. Her energetic speaking style adds to her classroom strengths. She is very giving of her time, always available to work with students if they need additional help.
